Summer? Spring? Songs!! - June 7, 2007

Alright, summer is pretty darn now. I think. So, I have new tunes and have been showcasing them lately at my GIGS.

Hoping to score a few new places to play in Chicago. Quite ready for that nut to crack. Some secret recording projects are in the works and just happy as a clam that it is warm and the SUN is present. Peace. See ya around.

Howdy Folks! - April 30, 2007

Well, spring has sprung and with that comes c-h-a-n-g-e-s. Writing, playing, playing, writing, singing, playing, writing, riffing, sharing, learning, laughing, having fun, meeting new people, growing and everything else that accompanies change. With those movements comes some NEW SONGS. Please check them out on my MYSPACE page - Jack's MYSPACE Page And please check my GIGS section too for upcoming shows. I just had great show with Club Zanzibar at Buddy Guy's - this was a gig through OTS and I got to display some blues singing and harp playing as part of Club Zanzibar. I have been popping my soul pills and the results have been healthy and good. God Bless! My intention is to play around Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, and Minnesota this summer - coffehouse, bars, fests, etc. This is my sophomore year flying solo - so look for me in the skies and listen for me in the air. peace, jack

TOOOO LonG! - April 10, 2007

Well, it has been too long since I wrote anything to you all. I have not been sitting on my hands, seriously. I have been getting through the Winter in Chicago and it is almost thru. Yes, there have been bountiful gigs at Savor the Flavor, courtesy of the wonderful owner Geri, and some very interested and kind fans. Kate Magnuson and I have continued to play together and have done a duet or two and backed each other up (her on vocals and me on instruments). All in all, it has been a lovely late winter. I am so looking forward to the Spring as friends and family come out of the woodwork and new opportunites arise. Also looking forward to some time back in nature. I am hoping to play some fests and some outdoor venues too. That sounds great. Well, my repertoire has expanded through some new songs (please check the myspace/jackhigginsband) for the fun "Turn It Up". This is a song I recorded over by Steve Dawson this winter - he's the guy playing a lot of the instruments. I had a successful winter and just am so happpy that Spring is upon us. Please stay posted for new shows and expect another mass email soon. Look forward to seeing/hearing from all of you in some form. God bless, jack ;)

Back in the saddle - December 26, 2006

I decided to head home to Illinois for the holidays and it was a great decision. Heck, I even saw Santa Claus. It is great to be around my family, their continued support is the best gift I could ever ask for. Hope you all have a happy and healthy New Year - keep the faith . peace, jack

Dear Santa...... - December 18, 2006

Well, as the holiday draws near it is proving harder to get some gigs, but life is good. What freedom to be living this life. Well, I have a few wishes that I would like to share - 1) A wonderful holiday for my family and my loved ones - 2) Continued prosperity and hope for everyone who is seeking more and peace and warmth for those that hurt - 3) knowing that LOVE IS THE ANSWER and showing it with joy - without reciprocity as the goal - 4) Wonderful music to fill the ears and hearts of those nearest to me - 5) And a steady gig throughout 2007 God bless....Amen and hallelujah

NO MORE PREDICTIONS ON WHERE I'LL BE! - December 11, 2006

So, I have given up on prognosticating on where I'll be. So far, I am not good at it. In essence, the Arizona plans have changed and I am in Boerne, Texas - a cozy town where people will talk to you. Don't know when I'll play next, but I have met some real nice people and am enjoying where I am at. It's begining to look a lot like Christmas!

The Iceman Cometh - December 9, 2006

Yes, I bring the cold with me! It seems that way...or maybe it is winter. Well, I am heading from Texas to Arizona tomorrow - it's a 2 day trip, so I will stay in Las Cruces, NM Sunday night and hit some hot springs. Hope to get a gig in Scottsdale area this week and hang out with Jeff Eder! peace - jack

Hunkering Down - December 5, 2006

So, I have reached a warm land called Texas and have decided to hunker down here. Since it is slow season...huts are cheap....got one near the beach...hope to relax and possibly pen some new tunes...no neighbors. I am in Port Aransas, home of the humped back whale. Here are some nice photos of the trip stuff. I need my MAD LIBS buddies to call me.....Matt and Kyle!!!!

Hey - Hey! It's an Update! - December 2, 2006

Well, a technical thing first. I will be posting recordings from my handheld recorder (recorded in my "van down by the river" recording studio) on my myspace page - www.myspace.com/jackhigginsband. Secondly, I am leaving Santa Fe today.
After a great stay with Danny B and much graciousness and kindness shown by the locals I must retreat to the warm of the south for some camping. I am heading in the general dirction of Austin, TX, maybe San Antone. Peace and good luck in your travels. -jack

THE AZTEC ROCKS! - November 30, 2006

Hidden amongst the trees on the coldest day in history in Santa Fe, a man named Jack came and the people gathered round and music was played, pictures were taken and gifts were bestowed. Thanks to everyone!!

La Virgen of Guadalupe is my friend - November 29, 2006

The sticker I bought today with the Virgen of Guadalupe on it says, Prays For Us All - apparently she listens to prayers and honors them.

See, after a bout of "how long should I stay in Sant Fe without a gig-itis?", a few angels appeared, a woman named Amy at the dog park with her pitbull Lefty suggested I go to the Aztec Cafe and then Sarah, owner of the Aztec, so graciously and kindly said it was cool if I played tomorrow afternoon. How wonderful people are that give you a try....so very. Thank you.

Still Kicking!! - November 27, 2006

Hey, I am now safely in Santa Fe, Ne Mexico hoping to score a gig in the next day or two. Thanks to everyone for all the kind words and support, it all means so much to me. Your enthusiasm and interest is inspiring. Hope you are all well. jack

Indy - Corner Coffee - Sunday - - November 19, 2006

Well, got the first gig of the trip here in Indy. Played a Sunday afternoon show from 2 - 4:30. Did about 25 songs. The highlights were playing MR CASH by the New Bomb, an impromptu request of Helpless by Neil Young and Being asked to play Boom Boom twice. A great place to have a swig if you are in Indy.

On the ROAD - November 18, 2006

Well folks, I am officially on the road. I actually left only 3 days later than I figured. It worked out great...got to do some fun things and see my family and friends just a wee more. So, I am writing from a coffehouse in Indianapolis - Corner Coffee - its on E. 11th St.. A guy is getting ready to play, so I am watching him setup and getting some perspective. Nice. Maybe they'll let me play here tomorrow. That should be the name of my tour - THE MAYBE THEY'LL LET ME PLAY HERE TOMORROW TOUR. Well, the dogs are sleeping in the van and I am a bit envious. Hope to find somewhere close to Indy to catch some ZZZZ's later. Everything feels very good and very right about this step on my journey. Peace and goodnight.

Wow, I just had an awesome moment. Geri from Savor the Flavor just put my song BOOM BOOM on her MySPACE page. That is a first for me and an awesome thing. Thanks for showing the love Geri.
